NH’s Service to Science Programs

The following is a list of the NH Service to Science Programs, including the respective organization and current status of each program.

Innovative Programs:

Making Change – Works in schools and the greater community to provide prevention education for young people. First designated a Promising Practice in 2011. Currently an Innovative Program.

Dover Mental Health Alliance – Community-based program to reduce mental health stigma. Currently an Innovative Program.

Dover Police Department: Empowering Positive Interventions for Children (EPIC) Alternative to Suspension – Program to curb in-school suspensions. Currently an Innovative Program.

Leaders in Prevention – Reduce substance misuse risk factors for adolescents through leadership development and community building. Currently an Innovative Program.

Archways: Family Threads – Family strengthening and recovery supports in a family resource center. Promising Practice as of April 2022.

Recovery Friendly Workplace – Provides workplaces with the tools to support people recovering from substance use disorders (SUD). Promising Practice as of 2023.

Open Sky – Prison-based acting program building social emotional resiliency. Promising Practice as of 2024

Wilderness Youth Leadership Development – Youth empowerment program that utilizes the outdoors for adventure-based and experiential learning opportunities. Promising Practice as of June 2023.

NH Juvenile Court Diversion Program – Community-based early intervention/court diversion program to reduce recidivism. Promising Practice as of 2020.

Children’s Resiliency Retreat – Community-based resiliency and skill-building program for youth impacted by adult caregiver SUD. Promising Practice as of 2020.
Boys and Girls Club of Souhegan Valley

Summer Leadership Program – Program for high school students around the state to learn valuable leadership skills and education surrounding substance misuse, bullying, sexual health, and conflict resolution. Promising Practice as of 2012.
NH Teen Institute

Evidence-Based:

Youth Leadership Through Adventure – Offers local students the opportunity to build leadership skills through outdoor activities. Evidence-Based as of 2022.
ADAPT

Life of an Athlete – Program that uses athletics to motivate students and prevent drug and alcohol misuse. Evidence-Based as of 2016.
NHIAA

Take Control – Community-based early intervention emotional regulation program. Evidence-Based as of 2022.
The Upper Room

One Voice Youth to Youth – Youth empowerment program to prevent alcohol and substance misuse. Evidence-Based as of 2013.
Dover Youth to Youth

Media Literacy for Safe and Healthy Choices – School-based media literacy and skill building youth ages 10-18. National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs, Policies and Practices as of 2014.
