This presentation will address components of tobacco use and treatment for the pregnant and postpartum population. The first segment will include an overview of the latest research on tobacco use within the pregnant population and the negative impact of tobacco use on specific social and racial groups. The second section will describe an evidenced-based, prenatal postpartum program that has shown positive results within 22 states by reducing tobacco use during and after pregnancy, especially within the low socioeconomic population.
