Our Approach

We take a collaborative approach, mindful of the organization’s needs and priorities from a practical, budget-conscious perspective. Our goal is to help organizations better achieve their missions through sustainable change. We work closely with organizations to identify their strengths, assess needs, and develop cost-effective strategies to enhance their organizational infrastructure, along with staff skills and expertise. Our services may include one-on-one and intensive technical assistance, targeted consultation, mentoring, and peer learning opportunities.

The Center is committed to diversity of thought, identity, and experience both in terms of its own workforce and also in terms of the communities it works with. Thus the Center and JSI have made commitments toward increasing diversity and equity. We offer reduced rates for our services which are intended to support organizations that lack resources to engage in technical assistance opportunities. This is a reflection of JSI’s mission to improve the health of underserved people and communities and to provide a place where people of passion and commitment can pursue this cause.

Our History

The Center for Excellence on Addiction at JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. was originally established in 2009 as the NH Center for Excellence in Addressing Alcohol and other Drug Misuse. The Center was founded as a specifically youth alcohol and other drug misuse prevention technical assistance and data support center in NH with funding from the NH Department of Health and Human Services Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Services. As early as 2010, however, the Center began to evolve into a hub for training, technical assistance, consultation, communications, and data and evaluation services across the continuum of care. This evolution was facilitated in part by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation which committed to contributing financial resources to the Center for an expanded scope of services. Since that time the Center has continued to add a variety of state and national projects to our portfolio, expanding our expertise throughout the continuum of care and across the array of supportive, evidence-based training and consultation services.
