DESCRIPTION:Thank you for your interest in the virtual Power of Prevention Conference on October 4\, 2021. Given feedback from our NH Prevention Partners\, we have decided to change course in how we deliver this exciting content. \nRather than a full-day virtual conference\, we will offer the planned workshops in an extended series over the next 6-months. The dates will be announced shortly. \nThe first session will be held on Friday\, November 5th from 8:30 – 11:30 AM  (during the next Partnership Convening) where we will highlight the key- and cap-note workshops from the conference by FrameWorks Institute: \nA. SUMMARY:Opioid Task Force - CANCELLED
DESCRIPTION:Meets second Thursday of every month from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. See meeting schedule for dates. The Opioid Task Force\, formerly the Prescription Drug Task Force\, was first convened in 2012 and consists of stakeholders representing business\, education\, government\, health care\, emergency services\, law enforcement\, and community supports. This task force focuses on high priority concerns relative to opioid misuse\, identifying and recommending to the Commission needs and strategies for addressing the problem as well as carrying out appropriate action items. Currently\, the task force has three goals for the next two years:\nReduce the number of people in NH\, particularly young adults\, who are misusing opioids (non-medical prescription pain relievers and non-pharmaceutical opioids);\nReduce harm associated with opioid misuse; and\nIncrease the availability of treatment and recovery support services for people with opioid use disorders.

The Healthcare Task Force was created to engage healthcare personnel and health systems in New Hampshire in preventing substance-related harm and in effectively addressing substance misuse. Specific goals of this task force include healthcare providers and clinical staff recognizing substance and addiction-related issues as important health issues and understanding the relevance to their patients and their practice; healthcare providers engaging in substance education\, screening\, intervention\, treatment or referral for treatment\, and recovery support in ways appropriate to their specialty and practice setting; and seamless and consistent collaboration between addiction specialists and general health care systems.
