DESCRIPTION:Meets second Thursday of every month from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. See meeting schedule for dates. The Opioid Task Force\, formerly the Prescription Drug Task Force\, was first convened in 2012 and consists of stakeholders representing business\, education\, government\, health care\, emergency services\, law enforcement\, and community supports. This task force focuses on high priority concerns relative to opioid misuse\, identifying and recommending to the Commission needs and strategies for addressing the problem as well as carrying out appropriate action items. Currently\, the task force has three goals for the next two years: \n\nReduce the number of people in NH\, particularly young adults\, who are misusing opioids (non-medical prescription pain relievers and non-pharmaceutical opioids);\nReduce harm associated with opioid misuse; and\nIncrease the availability of treatment and recovery support services for people with opioid use disorders.

SUMMARY:Power of Prevention Workshop Series: Children Deserve Recovery Tool
DESCRIPTION:The Children’s Resiliency Retreat is a selective prevention program for children impacted by a loved ones’ substance use disorder. This experiential program is intended to mitigate the adverse effects of growing up in a household affected by this disease by giving children the tools and opportunities to develop social emotional competence\, sense of purpose\, belonging and most of all\, hope. The Children’s Resiliency Retreat has been identified by the NH Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Service to Science Expert Panel as a “Promising Practice” and has also won the Boys & Girls Club\, Yankee Chapter Professional Association’s award for Health and Wellness. Continuing education credits will be offered.

DESCRIPTION:Building on experience implementing SBIRT in the primary care and pediatrics settings for both adults and youth\, the presenters will share how they are applying those valuable lessons learned to a pilot SBIRT project in a NH school setting.  This workshop is for those interested in understanding the benefits of screening youth on their use of substances along with other behavioral risks and exploring how to build a supportive response that meets them where they are at. Continuing education credits will be offered.
